In this section, we showcase panel PCs, vehicle-mount computers, and a wealth of other devices running Windows Embedded software platforms. You'll find a wide variety of products here, but, generally speaking, the devices featured here are intended for fixed mounting, not portability. For handheld devices or notebook computers, see here and here instead.
Note that this list is not meant to be all-inclusive; many of the manufacturers represented here offer additional models covering a spectrum of features and specs. This list will be updated frequently, so be sure to check back periodically for the latest info. The devices are listed in order of our coverage, from most recent to earliest.
 Martrox Iris GT -- Nov. 13, 2008 -- Matrox Imaging's Windows CE "smart camera" uses a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor. The Iris GT features 256MB of RAM, 1GB of flash storage, a gigabit Ethernet port, USB 2.0 and RS232 serial ports, plus an opto-coupled trigger input and strobe output.
 Advantech ARK-3399 -- Nov. 11, 2008 -- Advantech's fanless, aluminum-cased ARK-3399 targets self-service kiosks, digital signage, and industrial control applications. It employs Core 2 Duo, Core Duo, or Celeron M processors, includes hard disk or CompactFlash storage, accepts 2GB of RAM, and runs Windows XP Embedded or CE.
 Samsung 400TSn, 460TSn, 700TSn, and 820TSn -- Nov. 11, 2008 -- Samsung offers four touchscreen displays that measure up to 82 inches, while targeting interactive signage applications. The "TSn" series displays have built-in Windows XP Embedded (XPe) computers based on AMD Athlon64 X2 processors, 1GB of RAM, and 4GBs of flash.
 Avalue FPC-22W02 -- Nov. 6, 2008 -- Avalue Technology offers this touchscreen panel PC with a 22-inch display. The FPC-22W02 offers 1680 x 1050 resolution, supports Intel Core Solo, Core Duo, or Core 2 Duo CPUs, includes a PCI slot, and has two gigabit Ethernet ports.
 Axiomtek eBOX830-831-FL -- Nov. 5, 2008 -- Axiomtek's fanless, aluminum-cased embedded computer targets industrial automation, DVR (digital video recorder), and digital signage applications. The eBOX830-831-FL runs Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded, offering dual gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB ports, four COM ports, and two IEEE 1394a ports.
 Axiomtek Pipal 2025 -- Nov. 5, 2008 -- Taiwanese embedded PC and appliance specialist AR Infotek is shipping a fanless, x86-compatible system with top-mounted I/O connectors and external PC/104 expansion. The Pipal 2025 lets users add PC/104 modules without changing the system chassis.
 Win Enterprises PL-10540 and PL-10550 -- Oct. 27, 2008 -- Win Enterprises offers announced its EP80579-based PL-10540 and PL-10550 desktop networking platforms, based on the Intel EP80579 system-on-chip (SoC) previously code-named "Tolapai." Both are designed for SOHO/SMB network management and network security applications.
 Aewin SEM-7705 -- Oct. 23, 2008 -- Aewin's "embedded box computer" targets kiosk, vehicle, and industrial applications. The SEM-7705 supports fanless operation with Intel Core 2 Duo, Core Duo, or Celeron processors, has four serial ports and dual gigabit Ethernet ports, and can employ CompactFlash or hard disk storage.
 Ampro RuffSystem 840 -- Oct. 21, 2008 -- Ampro's fanless computer targets data acquisition, vehicular, and military applications. The "RuffSystem 840" includes a 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo processor, two gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 2.0 ports, four serial ports, VGA output, and 2.5-inch HDD (hard disk drive) or CompactFlash storage.
 HP rp3000 -- Oct. 16, 2008 -- HP built Intel's "nettop" technology into this new POS (point of sale) system for small- and medium-sized businesses. The "rp3000" includes a 1.6GHz Atom 230 processor, up to 2GB of RAM and 250GB of hard disk storage, and eight USB ports.
 DT Research WebDT Event Trigger Digital Signage System -- Oct. 15, 2008 -- DT Research's WebDT Event Trigger Digital Signage System uses a Windows XP appliance (left) with a 1.5GHz processor, eight "trigger ports," four USB ports, and fanless operation.
 Asus Eee Top -- Oct. 14, 2008 -- Asus' all-in-one "nettop" computer includes an integrated touchscreen. The "Eee Top" has a 15-inch display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and a gigabit Ethernet port.
 NEC TwinPOS 5500 and 3500 -- Oct. 8, 2008 -- NEC's POS (point-of-sales/service) computers use Microsoft's WEPOS (Windows Embedded for Point of Service) operating system. The TwinPOS 5500 and 3500 feature integrated flat panel touchscreens, optional MSRs (magnetic stripe readers) and customer-facing displays, and resist dust and liquids.
 Motorola VC6096 -- Oct. 6, 2008 -- Motorola's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional computer is designed for cab mounting in trucks. The VC6096 includes a VGA-resolution touchscreen display, 65-key QWERTY keyboard, GPS, HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, and integrated telematics support.
 Portwell CATO-3000 -- Sep. 25, 2008 -- Portwell's CATO-3000 network appliance uses Intel's EP80579 SoC (system on chip) and targets security and IP telephony applications. It features seven gigabit Ethernet ports, PCI Express x4, 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch hard drive expansion, and Intel's QuickAssist technology.
 Habey BIS-7750 -- Sep. 23, 2008 -- Habey's network appliance platform uses Intel's EP80579 SoC (system on chip). The BIS-7750 targets security, communications, and NAS (network attached storage), with five gigabit Ethernet ports, CompactFlash, PCI Express x4, and PCI Express Mini Card expansion, plus a 2.5-inch hard drive bay.
 Avalue LPC-1001 and LPC-1201 -- Sep. 22 2008 -- Avalue Technology's fanless touchpanel computers run either Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded (XPe). The 10.4-inch LPC-1001 and 12.1-inch LPC-1201 have Via Eden processors, CompactFlash storage, dual gigabit Ethernet ports, VGA outputs, and optional 2.5-inch hard disk drives.
 Arbor Technology TO660 -- Sep. 22, 2008 -- Arbor Technology's fanless panel PC targets HMI (human-machine interface) and automation applications. The TO660 has a 5.7-inch touchscreen display, AMD LX900 CPU, 1GB system memory, an Ethernet controller, two USB 2.0 ports, three serial ports, a CompactFlash socket, and a PC/104 interface.
 J2 Retail Systems J2 650 -- Sep. 18, 2008 -- 2 Retail Systems' 15-inch Windows XP Embedded terminal targets the POS (point of sales/service) and hospitality industries. The J2 650 supports processors from 1.6GHz Celerons up to 3GHz Core2 Duos, along with dual drives, optional RAID, and an integral UPS.
 CompuLab Fit-PC Slim -- Sep. 15, 2008 -- CompuLab's tiny fanless PC uses just 4-6 Watts of power. The "Fit-PC Slim" measures 4.3 x 3.9 x 1.2 inches (110 x 100 x 30mm), but includes a 500MHz AMD Geode LX800, Ethernet, VGA output, available WiFi, and a 2.5-inch hard drive option.
 Lanner EM-F343 -- Sep. 11, 2008 -- Lanner's compact, fanless computer is intended for digital signage, embedded gaming, POS (point of sales/service), and information kiosks. The EM-F343 has a 600MHz or 1GHz processor, VGA and S-Video outputs, six USB ports, a gigabit Ethernet port, and a CompactFlash slot.
 Akhter LoCO2PC -- Aug. 28, 2008 -- Akhter's LoCO2PC is a computer built into a 19-inch LCD display. The "LoCO2PC" typically consumes about 55 Watts, sleeps using 3 Watts, includes an HDMI port and DVD writer, and features Intel dual-core CPUs.
 Tangent Evergreen 17 -- Aug. 28,2008 -- Tangent's fanless, Windows-compatible PC that runs on 24 Watts and tucks neatly behind its 17-inch display. The Evergreen 17 is available with a 1GHz Via Eden, 2GB SDRAM, and either a 160GB hard drive or a 64GB solid-state drive (SSD).
 Shuttle X27 -- Aug. 27, 2008 -- Shuttle Incorporated's "nettop" computer offers "almost fanless" operation and uses just 38 Watts. The mini-ITX based "X27" includes an Intel Atom 230 processor, a gigabit Ethernet port, DVI video output, a 2.5-inch hard drive bay, and a PCI expansion slot.
 MSI Wind MS-6496 -- Aug. 21, 2008 -- MSI's "nettop" computer uses Intel's Atom processor. The Wind MS-6496 includes a gigabit Ethernet port, VGA port, six USB ports, memory card reader, dual drive bays, 7:1 audio output, plus both Mini PCI Express and CompactFlash slots.
 Moxa IA-261-1-T and IA-261-2T -- Aug. 18, 2008 -- Moxa's pair of Windows CE-based PCs operates in harsh industrial environments up to 167 deg. F. The IA-261-1-T and IA-261-2T offer dual Ethernet ports, dual CANbus ports, eight digital I/O channels, and CompactFlash storage.
 Samsung UF-130DX -- Aug. 11, 2008 -- Samsung's digital overhead projector replacement runs Windows CE. The UF-130DX offers a 1.3 megapixel camera with LED lighting, USB ports, video output on DVI-D and VGA ports, an Ethernet port, and web browsing via Internet Explorer.
 Janz Automation Systems emVIEW-6/A400 and emVIEW-8/A400 -- Aug. 8, 2008 -- Janz Automation Systems of Germany offers a range of Windows CE-based panel PCs, targeting HMI (human-machine interface) applications. The 6.5-inch emVIEW-6/A400 and 8.4-inch emVIEW-8/A400 feature Intel IXP42x processors, fanless operation, dual 10/100 Ethernet connectors, plus RS232 and CAN (controller area network) ports.
 Axiomtek Panel1178-841 -- Aug. 6, 2008 -- Axiomtek's 17-inch panel PC runs Windows, targeting kiosks and factory automation. The Panel1178-841 accepts Intel Core 2 Duo processors, offers a DVI-I output plus two Firewire ports, has dual gigabit Ethernet interfaces, and supports dual hard drives or Compact Flash.
 Icom MK1 -- Aug. 5, 2008 -- Korean firm Icom offers this in-car PC running Windows XP Media Center edition. The "Icom MK1" features a swing-out touchscreeen display, slot-loading DVD drive, GPS, T-DMB receiver, four-channel audio amplifier, and drives up to four external displays.
 Axiomtek eBOX639-822-FL -- Jul. 29, 2008 -- Axiomtek's fanless embedded computer targets industrial automation, digital signage (DSA), gaming/entertainment, and vehicle applications. The eBOX639-822-FL offers Celeron M or Pentium M processors, dual PCI slots and gigabit Ethernet ports, and six apiece of serial and USB interfaces.
 Moxa DA-662-I -- Jul. 28, 2008 -- Moxa's 1U rackmount data acquisition computer has 16 serial ports and four 10/100 Ethernet ports, all on RJ-45 jacks. The DA-662-I runs Windows CE 5.0 on Intel's ARM-based IXP425 processor, with HTTP, telnet, and FTP servers, and PCMCIA, CompactFlash, and USB expansion.
 Acrosser AR-ES5430FL -- Jul. 25, 2008 -- This embedded computer from Acrosser is capable of running Intel's 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo fanlessly. Targeting digital signage and vehicular applications, the AR-ES5430FL features an aluminum case with advanced heat pipe technology, four serial ports, dual LAN ports, plus DVI, LVDS, VGA and S-Video outputs.
 Portwell PCS-8230 -- Jul. 25, 2008 -- Portwell's interesting Intel Atom-based PC is aimed at in-car entertainment. The PCS-8230 fits into a single DIN slot, offers TV tuner, WiFi, and GPS modules, has a SDIO slot and a 2.5-inch hard drive bay, and delivers six channels of analog audio.
 Datasound Laboratories APC-3x17 -- Jul. 25, 2008 -- Datasound Laboratories's Core 2 Duo-based panel PC supports fanless operation and PCI expansion. The APC-3x17 runs Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded, has 15-, 17-, or 19-inch touschscreen displays, includes a 2.5-inch hard drive bay, and has dual gigabit Ethernet ports.
 Axiomtek eBox832-831 and eBox832-840 -- Jul. 15, 2008 -- Axiomtek's aluminum-cased embedded computers target automation, kiosk, digital signage, and vehicle applications. The eBox832-831 and eBox832-840 run Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded, offering dual gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB ports, four COM ports, and two IEEE 1394a ports.
 Thermo Fisher Scientific PM12 Personnel Gamma Portal Monitor -- Jul. 8, 2008 -- Thermo Fisher Scientific's PM12 Personnel Gamma Portal Monitor has eight detectors with individual security alarms, can be used in five different modes, and has an optional LCD display. Perhaps the least portable device WindowsForDevices.com has ever featured, the massive PM12 weighs either 1800 pounds or 2200 pounds, depending on whether the purchaser has selected half an inch or one inch of lead shielding for its frame.
 Tektronix SA2600 Spectrum Analyzer -- Jul. 1, 2008 -- This real-time spectrum analyzer runs Windows CE, targeting everything from "small radio repair depots to spectral interference management in the field," with integrated GPS, a 10-inch touchscreen, a 10kHz-6.2GHz input range, and -153dBm DANL (displayed average noise level).
 Win Enterprises PL-60760 -- Jun. 24, 2008 -- This 1U, Core2 Duo-based network appliance has eight Ethernet ports. The PL-60760 targets firewalls, VPN gateways, IDS/IPS (intrusion detection and prevention systems), NAC (network access control) systems, and UTM (unified threat management).
DT Research SA1000, SA1004, and SA2000 -- Jun. 20, 2008 -- DT Research has announced three "signage appliances" are designed to run the company's digital signage software using Windows XP Embedded (XPe). The SA1000, SA1004, and SA2000 have flash storage or hard disk drives, up to five video outputs, aluminum cases, and fanless operation.
 Samsung 400UXn and 460UXn -- Jun. 19, 2008 -- Samsung's 40- and 46-inch displays have built-in computers running Windows XP Embedded (XPe). Targeting "video walls" for signage, the 400UXn and 460UXn have bezels under half an inch wide, 5000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, AMD Athlon64 X2 3400+ processors, and 4GB of flash.
 IBM AnyPlace Kiosk -- May 30, 2008 -- Intended to let customers pay for their purchases anywhere in a store, IBM's 15-inch AnyPlace Kiosk has a flat-panel touchscreen display with 1024 x 768 resolution. It is supplied either in a 3xx entry-level model, with a 2.0GHz Via C7-D processor, or a 5xx "performance" version that is available with 1.8GHz AMD processors.
 Comfile Technology Cuwin3200 and Cuwin3500 -- May 29, 2008 -- Comfile Technology's two touchscreen computers that target home or factory automation. The Cuwin3200 and Cuwin3500 both run Windows CE 5.0, and have seven-inch displays with 800 x 480 resolution, 10/100 Ethernet, USB host and device ports, three serial ports, and SD expansion slots.
 Datasound Laboratories LX800-LCD -- May 20, 2008 -- Datasound Laboratories offers four open-frame panel PCs intended for incorporation into kiosks. With screens from 6.4 to 15 inches, the LX800-LCD systems feature fanless operation, AMD Geode LX800 processors, up to 1GB of RAM, 10/100 Ethernet, four USB ports, and optional PCI-104 expansion.
 VidaBox TouchClient 12 -- May 19, 2008 -- VidaBox LLC's touchscreen panel PC that runs Windows XP Embedded (XPe) and targets home entertainment installations. The fanless TouchClient12 features a 12-inch display with 1024 x 768 resolution, two 10/100 Ethernet ports, two serial ports, stereo speakers, and optional 802.11b/g wireless.
 Sealevel Systems Relio R4000 -- May 16, 2008 -- Sealevel Systems offers three 1U rack-mount industrial computers, each designed to accept up to four data acquisition modules. The fanless Relio R4000 series systems run Windows XP Embedded from CompactFlash, operate to 50 deg. C, and come with AMD or Intel processors.
 Sokkia NET05 -- May 7, 2008 -- Sokkia's precision optical "total station" surveying instrument uses Windows CE 5.0. The NET05 operates over distances up to 11,480 feet, measures within 2.4 seconds, automatically follows targets moving at up to 56 mph, and is claimed accurate to half a millimeter.
 Contendo ITP-070 and ITP-10 -- May 7, 2008 -- Contendo Systems GmBH's two flat-panel PCs run Windows CE and can use PoE (power over Ethernet). The ITP-070 and ITP-104 feature touchscreen displays, microSD storage, sealed aluminum cases, and Marvell PXA270 or PXA320 processors running at up to 806MHz.
 Axiomtek eBox647-FL -- May 6, 2008 -- Axiomtek's fanless embedded computer targets applications such as digital signage or industrial control. The shock-resistant eBox647-FL boots Windows XP Embedded or Windows CE from CompactFlash.
 Portwell NAD-2100 -- Apr. 29, 2008 -- Portwell's "desktop" network security appliance measures 9 x 8 x 2 inches and includes six Ethernet ports. The NAD-2100 comes with Celeron M or Pentium M processors, offers Compact Flash or DOM (disk-on-module) storage, and supports a serial-interfaced system console.
 Axiomtek ICO-200 -- Apr. 28, 2008 -- Axiomtek's compact industrial PC runs Windows CE or XP Embedded and is designed for DIN-rail mounting. The remotely controllable ICO-200 has an AMD Geode LX800 CPU, up to 1GB of RAM, Compact Flash storage, and a Mini PCI slot.
 B&R APC620 Embedded -- Apr. 18, 2008 -- B&R Automation's compact industrial PC comes with Windows XP Embedded and the company's own real-time extension. The APC620 Embedded offers integrated fieldbus interfaces, 512KB or 1GB of battery-backed static RAM, two CompactFlash slots, and support for eight remote displays.
 DT Research WebDT 520 -- Apr. 16, 2008 -- DT Research's WebDT 520 is designed for fixed mounting in forklifts, boats, or emergency vehicles. It has a twelve-inch touchscreen display, a 120GB hard drive or up to 64GB of solid-state storage, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth, and optional UPS battery.
 Smart Modular Technologies XceedPC/Dx -- Apr. 14, 2008 -- Smart Modular Technologies offers three embedded PCs targeting the kiosk, ATM, and digital signage markets. The XceedPC/Dx series includes Intel Celeron, Pentium, or Core 2 Duo processors, up to 4GB of memory, 16-lane PCI Express and PCI expansion, and 2.5-inch disk storage.
 eEye Digital Security Retina Appliance 651 -- Apr. 9, 2008 -- eEye Digital Security offers this "appliance" version of its flagship network security scanner product. Based on Windows XP Embedded, the Retina Appliance 651 can scan for vulnerabilities on up to 5,000 network assets, including PCs, servers, routers, wireless devices, and databases.
 Axiomtek eBox630-821-FL -- Apr. 4, 2008 -- Axiomtek's high-end embedded computer is designed for automation, digital signage, and in-vehicle use. The fanless eBox630-821-FL runs Windows CE or XP Embedded, and offers dual gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB ports, four COM ports, and high-end graphics and video.
 Axiomtek Panel2170-831 -- Mar. 27, 2008 -- Axiomtek's panel PC runs either Windows XP Embedded or Windows CE, and targets POS, kiosk, VoIP, and remote monitoring applications. The Panel2170-831 includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, 17-inch touchscreen display, dual gigabit Ethernet ports, two 1394a ports, and PCI expansion.
 Glacier Computer Everest -- Mar. 24, 2008 -- Glacier Computer offers a novel heated touchscreen option for its Windows XP Embedded-based industrial computer. Intended for forklift, cart, or pallet mounting, the "Everest" is said to keep its screen clear even when wheeled in and out of a freezer.
 Adlink GME-12000 -- Mar. 21, 2008 -- Adlink Technology's ruggedized embedded controller supports Windows CE and XP Embedded. The temperature-resistant GEME-12000 ("general embedded machine engine") is designed for applications like machine tooling and digital video capture that operate continously in harsh, remote environments.
 Aaeon Boxer AEC-6905 -- Mar. 19, 2008 -- Aaeon's fanless computer uses Intel Celeron CPUs and runs Windows XP Embedded or Windows CE. The Boxer AEC-6905 is designed for vehicle mounting, has PCI and PC/104-Plus expansion, CompactFlash storage, and operates on DC power from 9-30 volts.
 Topcon IS Imaging Station -- Mar. 14, 2008 -- Topcon offers a surveying instrument based on Windows CE. The IS Imaging Station features WiFi and Bluetooth, dual digital cameras, remote control operation, and an EDM (electronic distance meter) that measures distances up to 3.1 miles.
 Samsung 700DXn and 820DXn -- date, 2008 -- Samsung offers 70- and 82-inch flat panel displays incorporating computers running Windows XP Embedded (XPe). Targeting signage applications including video walls with up to 25 monitors, the 700DXn and 820DXn have 1920 x 1080 resolution, and sport dual-core AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPUs.
 Advantech ARK-4180 -- Mar. 7, 2008 -- Advantech's fanless industrial computer is designed to operate in temperatures from -40 to 75 deg. C (-40 to 167 deg. F). The ARK-4180 features 600MHz or 1GHz Celeron processors, includes internal CompactFlash-based storage, and runs either Windows XP Embedded or Windows CE.
 QSI Treq-L -- Feb. 29, 2008 -- QSI's in-cab computer is based on Windows CE 5.0. Intended for fleet management, dispatching, and mapping applications, the Treq-L has an 800 x 480 touchscreen display, optional 802.11b/g wireless networking, an integrated GPS receiver, and a tri-band GSM/GPRS modem.
 Delock DL-18HD -- Feb. 29, 2008 -- Delock's DL-18HD is a compact industrial PC built around a Via pico-ITX motherboard. Designed for DIN-rail mounting, the DL-18HD runs Windows XP, includes a 1GHz Via C7 processor, supports hard disks up to 300MB, and has an optional quad-band cellular modem.
 Matrox 4Sight X -- Feb. 28, 2008 -- Matrox Imaging's small-footprint computer runs Windows XP Embedded (XPe) and targets video-capture applications. The 4Sight X features dual gigabit Ethernet ports, three IEEE 1394 a/b ports, eight USB ports, and PCI expansion slots that accept optional frame grabbers.
 LXE Trux Tx800 Triton -- Feb. 22, 2008 -- LXE's Trux Tx800 Triton is a vehicle-mount computer that runs Windows XP Embedded (XPe). Supporting Celeron M or Pentium M processors, the device has a 10.4 inch display, magnesium case, Bluetooth, 802.11a/b/g, and optional GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA wide area networking.
 I-Tech KPC series -- Feb. 21, 2008 -- I-Tech offers four touchpanel PCs with screens from 12 to 19 inches. The KPC series computers use Celeron M or Pentium M processors, feature metal cases with sealed fronts, and run Windows XP Embedded (XPe) or Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS).
 Glacier Ridgeline CE -- Feb. 15, 2008 -- Glacier's Ridgeline CE is a rugged ARM9-based tablet computer intended for mounting on forklifts and other vehicles. It runs Windows CE and has a 5.7-inch touchscreen display, along with a 10/100 Ethernet port, watertight rubber keypad, and integral strain-relief mechanism to protect attached cables.
 Advantech UNO-4678 -- Feb. 11, 2008 -- Advantech has announced a fanless industrial computer that runs either Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded on a 1GHz Celeron M processor. The 1U-high UNO-4678 is intended for industrial automation and control applications, and boasts eight isolated serial ports along with three LAN ports.
 Vic Navisurfer II -- Feb. 7, 2008 -- Vic's NavisurferII was claimed to be the first internal monitor-equipped in-car PC to fit into "single DIN" stereo bays. It has a non-retractable, permanently attached 7-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz or 1.3GHz CPU, and a 40GB to 120GB hard drive.
 Ford Work Solutions in-dash PC -- Feb. 6, 2008 -- Ford's Windows CE-based computer is destined for the 2009 F-150 pickup. The vehicle optionally offers "Ford Work Solutions," including the in-dash computer, an RFID-based asset tracking system, and real-time transmission of vehicle location and maintenance information.
